“The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23
The Church is at the heart of Babraham life and we see RE as essential for children to learn both about and from religion. Our curriculum promotes the capacity for awe and wonder. We believe it enables space for children to think deeply, and to develop spiritually, morally, and culturally. Babraham values every individual as special and unique, and recognises how RE can foster mutual respect.
Children are taught about God’s love and learn about Christianity. They are provided with rich experiences through our close relationship with our Church, celebrating in Christian traditions and the festivals of the Church year. Our daily collective worship allows children the space to reflect and discuss Christian values and beliefs and how these link to our daily lives.
They will explore and be challenged, having the freedom to share ideas, whilst listening to and respecting others.
Children will examine different world views, learning about and from other faiths, such as Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism, as well as humanism. There are opportunities to participate in other religious celebrations, such as Diwali, and really enjoy and embrace these experiences.
Each unit of RE begins with an overarching ‘Big Question’, which is explored through a series of sessions and then revisited to assess, and reflect on, learning.
We believe RE enables pupils to combat prejudice, preparing them for adult life, employment and life-long learning, with sensitivity and understanding.
